Senioritis kicks in when finish line is near
By: Summer Richards
NORTHRIDGE- Through the halls people hear conversations about graduation parties, future plans, and merry chitter chatter of the big day becoming near. As seniors get ready for this day, they wait impatiently and have to practically drag themselves to the conclusion that they only have a few short months until they can sleep in for the summer, and prepare themselves for their new and upcoming college life.
Many students feel anxious to graduate, including (’13) Tony Shore saying “I feel real, I feel like a man”. (’13) Elizabeth Kallay comments saying that she feels “Anxious and excited. Anxious because the big college campus is scary, but at the same time excited to become an adult and begin [her] future”.
No matter what your plans are for the future, or how you plan on achieving your goals, as long as you try in life and give it you’re all, you will succeed. Yes, we start slacking, and yes we become lazy, this doesn’t mean we have given up or decided to become a useless “bump on the log” per say, we have just realized that the past 12 years of our lives we have been built around the idea that one must attend school, now we have the choice to further our education or to start directly in the work force.
Allen Dodson ('13) said he feels “Excited, but wants it to go slowly because after graduation, [we] won’t have to go to school ever again unless [we] go to college”. After Dodson graduates he plans to work and save up his money so he can start his own tow truck company.
Weather you plan on just working your way up in a company or a job, going to college to help you figure out what career path is best for you, or saving up and creating your own business, they all end up leading to success. We all have that one true goal we are striving for and that is success in our lives and futures. Without success, no one would achieve anything in life, not even the smallest goal.
The finish line is near, and the seniors are ready to get out on their own and create a future for themselves.

She's that good
Let me just start this off by saying that if she knew I was writing this, she would totally not let me do it. Yes, she is that selfless; she is that humble.
Mrs. Garee is our newspaper supervisor. In just 18 weeks, she transformed a classroom full of average kids, who didn’t know the first thing about writing as journalists, into a full running newspaper staff. It is one thing to be a great teacher, but the attitude that she brings to the table is unbelievable. If you walk into the room with a frown on your face, I can guarantee you that you won’t walk out with one.
Mrs. Garee is the kind of person who would give the shirt off of her back to a complete stranger if they were in need. I can honestly say that she is one of the most genuinely nice people I have ever met.
I feel that typing this was completely necessary because Mrs. Garee would never take credit for what she has done. She would not admit that she has had this huge of an impact on a class full of kids. This is one of her most admirable features.
If any of this is a question, go ahead and walk on down to the computer lab during 2nd period and check it out. A full functioning newspaper created by one individual. I promise you won’t regret it.
I believe I speak on the behalf of the entire newspaper staff, student body, and administration when I say that Mrs. Garee has brought a great amount of happiness, comfort, and much more to Northridge High School. Thank you for all you do.

Tony Shore
Oh Anthony Drake Shore, so much can be said about him. With a personality and sense of humor that could bring a smile to a funeral Tony is sure to be missed. His favorite memory is driving to school in his 2010 Toyota Yaris, with the wind flowing through his lustrous mane. He is hoping to be remembered as a superstar on the track, which I think we all know is true. His plans after high school consist of being a rocket ship. Nothing else, just being a rocket ship. We wish you the best of luck Tony. Again Tony, we wish you the best of luck. His wise advice to the underclassmen is “Don’t drink the Kool-Aid” which is something I myself try to live by also. When asked about his finale message to the class of 13 he said “I don’t give messages for free; at least not anymore” which could mean a number of different things.

Summer Richards
Or Sherbert, was born on November 16th. Her best high school memory was just meeting new people and trying to make it to graduation day. Her "whole high school career was a blast, not just a single moment of it". She will probably be remembered as that Wendy's girl. Summer's plans after high school are to attend college to major in the law field. She plans on getting a job as a paralegal, and then continuing onto law school. By her 20-year reunion she hopes to be a successful paralegal living the "dream" life. She " struggled with money as a kid, and [she] hopes to be making a decent amount of money by then!" Her advice to underclassmen is: "The biggest thing is to pay attention to the teachers, do your work on time, and in the end it will all pay off. Your teachers are there to help, not to make life harder. The sooner you realize that, the sooner life will be easier for you. Summer's final message to the Class of 2013 is, "I am happy and honored, to graduate with such as successful class. We have all been through a lot in our past eleven years in school, but we have also proven that we were strong enough to make it through to graduation day. The class of 2013 is a unique class, and that is what makes us so special. I'll miss everyone and I believe that will be the hardest part, knowing that I will no longer be waking up to go to school to see my friends, and knowing that half of those friends will no longer be in my life due to us taking our own paths. On a happy note; we made it, Class of 2013, let's show them what we're made of."

Forrest Priest
Among his group of friends Forrest is quite the character. With most of the group hangouts taking place at his house, Forrest is a beloved member of his clique. With his best high school memory being ordering pizza with his friends at lunch, it is very clear he has some spunk. He said he hopes to be remembered as the person you could talk to about anything and he would give the best advice possible. After school he is planning on attending OSU Newark studying psychology and later transferring to Michigan to major in psychiatry. He is hoping to have his degree in psychiatry in the next 20 years or so, we wish him the best of luck. He has some very wise words aimed towards underclassmen, “Find happiness in the little things” which are words that we should all try to live by. His final message to the class of 13 is a heartfelt “Nice knowin’ ya guys.”

Elizabeth Kallay
Otherwise known as "Izzy", was born on October 13th. Her best high school memory was watching Mr.Wentz and Scott E. argue over whether Wentz's shirt was yellow or green, despite the shirt being blue. She says she will probably be remembered as "the girl who drove the transformer to school". Elizabeth's plans after high school are the usual job, spouse, car, and maybe a few kids. By her 20-year reunion she will have figured out what she wants in life. Her advice to underclassmen is "Stop hating on Northridge, you could have it so much worse," and her final message to the Class of 2013 is short and sweet: "Goodbye, and good luck!"

By his 20 year reunion he is hoping to have a wife, 2 kids, land, and a dog. Kyli Fleshman
Or Ky, Fleshman is a senior this year. Her birthday is January 5th. Her best high school memory is either the time she won National Honor's Society, or hanging out in Grows room with Storm, Brady, and Clay, "They're all crazy", she says. Her plans after high school is she is either going to marry rich, or go to the Art Institute to find an art degree. By her 20-year reunion she will probably have a kid or two, some more tattoos, and her hair back. When asked how she will be remembered, she commented with the quote: "I will be remembered as who they want to remember me as." Kyli's advice to underclassmen is, "It literally isn't all about appearance; don't blend in, but don't make yourself a fool. Also 80' s music is way better than anything in current day." Her final message to the Class of 2013: "I'm sad that I waited until my senior year to get to know the lot of you, but I am so glad I did get to know you! Good luck on your lives."
