The Lion King doesn’t disappoint
By: Cole Fox
Whether it's nostalgia or all-new, people of all ages are lining up to see the all-new thrilling Disney movie The Lion King. Disney is known for creating all-around enjoyable movies for all ages, but this one has a different feel than most.
The new Disney’s The Lion King is action-packed and thrilling to watch. The feel is so much more realistic and intense as the plot evolves. The film is pretty much the same as its 1994 sibling. The action-packed film is still broken up by the comedic acts of Timon played by Billy Eichner and Pumbaa played by Seth Rogan. Along with the comedic acts, the romantic scene where Nala and Simba are reunited helps give a sense of companionship. The movie still includes most of the nostalgic and iconic scenes like Rafiki Presenting Simba as a cub.
The songs are still the same but with a new feel as Simba is played by Daniel Glover and Nala is Played by Beyonce.
Disney's The Lion King was originally released as an animated film in the year 1994. The animated film was roughly an hour and 30 minutes long and is rated G. The new Disney's The Lion King released in 2019 is a live-action realistic film. The film gives off a more intense feeling compared to the animated film and is roughly two hours long and is rated PG.
Whether you know the story or watching for the first time you're sure to have a good night out with the family. If you don't want to spend time at the theater it comes out on DVD September 23rd of this year.

- “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. I know, I know. You’ve heard it. But c’ mon, it’s not like I could just leave it out.
- “Sonora” by Spendtime Palace. I found this song through a friend about two years ago and have yet to find another song quite like it. (The music video really adds to the effect!)
- “Black & Blue” by Christina Perri. You’ve probably heard of “A Thousand Years” or “Jar of Hearts,” but this song is by far Perri’s most underrated.
- “21 Guns” by Green Day. Choosing which Green Day song to add to this list wasn’t easy, but I stand by my decision.
- “Let It Be” by The Beatles. Chances are, you’ve heard this song. Listen again. It never gets old.
- “Cough Syrup” by Young the Giant. You’ve most likely heard the Glee cover before…
- “The Reason” by Hoobastank. This is a simple song with a lot of meaning.
- “Chocolate” by The 1975. I stumbled across this song five years ago and bought tickets to their concert last week if that tells you anything.
- “All I Wanted” by Paramore. Like Green Day, this one was a tough decision.
- “Make Me Your Queen” by Declan McKenna. Pro tip: try listening to this one while driving with the windows down.
- “River” by Bishop Briggs. Briggs has one of the most powerful voices I’ve heard.
- “Wake Me Up When September Ends” by Green Day. I know I already included Green Day but I couldn’t leave this song out. I mean, what a waste!
- “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John. Any excuse to include Elton John is a good one.
- “Buzzcut Season” by Lorde. Just another one of Lorde’s many amazing songs.
- “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers. A classic!
- “Cigarette Daydreams” by Cage the Elephant. This song got me hooked on Cage the Elephant and I am eternally grateful.
- “Put Your Head on My Shoulder” by Paul Anka. While this one may not have much in common with the rest, I love it just as much.
- “Carmen” by Lana Del Rey. Stream Lana’s new album while you’re at it!
- “Are You Bored Yet?” by Wallows (feat. Clairo). Catchy!!!
- “Wish I Knew You” by The Revivalists. Good luck listening to this song without singing along!
