Is all the Riverdale Hype Accurate?
By: Megan Castle
Riverdale is an amazingly captivating TV series revolving around finding a murderer that airs every Wednesday on The CW or, if you want to start it (which you should), the first season is on Netflix.
So the Netflix-produced series of Riverdale is a show aimed for more or less this generation of teens. The show’s first season takes you through a murder mystery of one of the students at none other than Riverdale High. Friends, classmates, and family all work toward their own conclusions of who the murderer ends up being throughout the season. Friendships are tested, relationships are built, and families are challenged. If you are looking for a show that will undoubtedly have you on the edge of your seat, episode after episode, then Riverdale is for you.
The show definitely has a lot of pros to it. It makes you continually question who the killer, known as The Black Hood, is and definitely throws you for a plot twist at the end of the first season. You definitely will not see it coming! There is such a variety of personalities throughout the characters that it makes you want to see how each character will end up changing throughout the season. The show’s seemingly endless plot twists make you want more because, every time you think you have it figured out, something unthinkable happens.
The only negative thing in this show is the debatable question of what time era this show takes place in. A lot of outfits and sayings lead viewers to believe it was set in the 1950s, while the teenage characters can be seen with i-Phones or in modern clubs throughout the season, as well. This anachronistic and tricky debate is definitely something to keep you wondering about.
So whether you are a teen or not, Riverdale is definitely a show to dive into, especially if you want a good mystery.

Movie Review: The Greatest Showman
By: Cole Fox
The Greatest Showman is the “greatest” family movie that people of all ages will enjoy. It shares the concept of achieving your dreams with hard work.
The film begins by showing the life of P.T. Barnum and his life being a tailor's son. As the story/plot evolves, it shows the characters following their dreams and working hard to achieve them. The Greatest Showman shows people that it is okay to be different because there is a place for everyone. It allows viewers to understand that no matter what you look like or who you are, there is a group of people who will love you.
First Barnum bought a wax museum and tried to get people to come see it, but it did not work. So then his imagination prompted him to turn it into a circus. Then he began to search the world for outcasts for his circus. Barnum’s dream allowed all the outcasts to be apart of something special. The outcasts became one and created a circus, and it took them awhile to get people to come because everyone just thought it was silly. Once they got the word out and people started coming to the circus, it turned into the huge event that the legend was built on. Once Barnum earned a profit from the circus, he bought a huge mansion. Eventually it became known that the Barnum circus was the place to go for a fun night out. He eventually attracted a major investor who would become his partner and, later, successor.
Overall, The Greatest Showman is a great experience for the family to enjoy, especially considering the major lessons to be learned in the movie that may feel especially real for high school students: for example, always working hard to achieve your goals or never taking what you have for granted.
