Wreck It Ralph...It’s Arcade at Home
By: Jason Turner
So you want a new Wreck It Ralph II movie? Well, it’s on the way this summer, so I guess now is the best time to review the first one.
I think the gamers in school will like it, and most of my favorite movies are animated so get use to me reviewing a lot of cartoons. Anyway, Wreck It Ralph does a lot of things right. I am trying out a point system, so without further ado get a quarter and pass start as we level up to Disney’s Wreck It Ralph.
The title character is a villain of a old arcade game, but he’s gold-hearted; in fact, the movie opens with him telling his friends how he is mistreated in his game by everyone but the game’s hero, Fix it Felix. And that he doesn’t want to be the villain anymore. This makes Wreck It Ralph very likeable and gives us someone to root for: ten points for that.
Before I go on, I want to mention that not only does this have one of the best Disney’s cast of characters, Ralph himself, but it has more video game references than pixels. Anyway, Ralph goes home to find an anniversary party for his game, but he wasn’t invited. Needless to say, Ralph is steamed. He goes to get a medal from a shooter called Hero's Douy but by way of a very funny action scene, he ends up in Sugar Rush, a candy racing game, so it's up to him and his new friend, Penelope, to get his medal back. This movie is good, and nowhere is that more obvious than the characteristics and the movie is fun to watch and entertaining.
At this point you are probably thinking, "I can’t wait to see this movie and the sequel! What can I expect in the next movie?" I don’t know, to be honest with you, but I know it will be good.

Happy Valentine's Day! Now, eat your heart out.

Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead have been waiting since November, 2015 to find out the fates of characters they have grown to love. On February 14, 2016, they finally got the answer they had been waiting for.
Viewers were left with unanswered questions and a cliff-hanger for months. Would Sam put the group’s life in danger? What would be the aftermath of Carol and Morgan’s duel? Would Alexandria fall? Or rise from the destruction?
The group is shown still trying to escape Alexandria, which is where the season finale episode left off. Unfortunately, Sam’s fear got himself and his mother killed. Ron, upset because of the deaths of his mother and brother, shoots Carl in the eye and then Michonne kills him. This episode was really shocking because of the constant threat and multiple deaths.
Rick carries Carl out of the crowd of zombies and destruction. This reminded me of when Rick carried Carl out of the woods after he had been shot in season two. I really like how the newest season has had similar scenes and storylines to previous seasons.
Denise is still stuck with the Wolf, but they both discover they are crucial to each other’s survival. They try to escape overrun Alexandria, but the Wolf has to sacrifice himself in order for Denise to live. Nobody will really know if he really did have a heart and started living the way Morgan wanted him to, but I believe he did. He could have easily let Denise die, but he sacrificed himself in order for her to live. I think he did it because Denise is the town’s doctor and her life is more valuable to everyone than his is.
Glenn and Enid made it back to Alexandria and are taking shelter in the church. Maggie is stuck on a tower, so they are looking for supplies to help get her down. Enid feels really hopeless about the fate of herself and the town. Glenn tells her she needs to fight to live because when she dies, the people that she loved that have already passed, die with her, too. He mentions a few characters that have died and that they are the reason he keeps fighting to live. I thought that this was nice because it is not very often that there are homages to old characters. They find and tie old cloths together and Enid gets Maggie down from the tower.
At this point, Carl has been taken to Alexandria’s makeshift hospital, where Denise focus on Carl’s wound. Rick is extremely upset with the deaths and injuries that have just occurred, so he leaves the room and starts killing as many zombies as he can with an axe. The whole town notices, and they go to help him. Eventually, every single zombie is killed and a sense of peace washes over the town. The combination of everyone working together and Daryl lighting the lake on fire, (fire distracts and kills zombies), saved the town. I think that this shows a lot of character development because the townspeople would not even dare to fight. They finally understand what they have to do if they want to survive
The episode ends with Rick holding Carl’s hand while he is recovering, much like a few scenes from season two. Rick tells his son about the town’s united efforts and says, “I want to show you the new world.” Carl grips his father’s hand and the end credits roll.
I think the town will do fine if everyone keeps working together, but teamwork won’t stop the dead.
You can watch The Walking Dead on AMC Sundays at 9 pm.

Bd’s Mongolian Barbeque review
By: Cora Dorman
Bd’s Mongolian Barbeque is a fun, unique restaurant to celebrate a birthday or family occasion, or to go out with friends or just have a very different type of meal.
What makes the restaurant so unique is that you get to specifically hand pick your food, then watch as someone cooks it. (There’s no mess for you!)
After being seated at the restaurant, you will receive a bowl to pile food on. There are three different stations you go through to pick your food. The first station is “Meat and Seafood.” At this station, you pick out your favorite types of meat and seafood and, if you want, you can put noodles in your bowl. At the “Vegetables” station, you load up your bowl with veggies or move onto the “Sauces and Spices.” With tons of options to choose from, you can make your own sauce combination for your food or follow a recipe posted on the wall.
With every meal, you will receive a side of white or brown rice and lettuce wraps or tortillas. Instead of white or brown rice, you can get vegetarian, chicken, shrimp, or bacon fried rice, for a charge.
I love that this restaurant is original, fun, fast and close to Easton. There’s lots of seating, and food is made according to your own specific taste.
Although, this isn’t the place for people with food allergies or on a tight budget. There is a possibility that certain foods could accidentally be mixed in with other foods. I love going to Bd’s, but it can empty a wallet quickly. For one bowl, the price is $12.99, without tax or a drink. The bill for one person is approximately $18.
Bd’s Mongolian has “Student Night” every Wednesday. This means that showing your student ID will get you one bowl for $9.99 or unlimited bowls for $11.99.
Overall, Bd’s is a thumb’s up!

Bad customer service, or bad customers?
By: Kyle Stermer
NORTHRIDGE-Throughout the glorious life of high school you are bound to have one or two jobs. Most of the time, instead of being the CEO for your own company, you're likely to be flipping burgers at your closest fast food job. Although the job might make you want to walk out on an hourly basis, at least you get the pleasure of witnessing the appalling nature of customers. Sadly, if you don't have a sweet fast food job then you won't know what i'm talking about, but that's what this paper is all about.
Spencer Miller is a former employee at the well known chain of Wendy's. He tells me a story that happened on his first day. He said that a guy came through the drive through with his wife, and two young daughters. The guy ordered for all of them, and when Miller was handing the change back he accidentally dropped a quarter. This is where it gets good. Miller says the guy starts freaking out and cusses him out. The guy proceeds to jerk his car forward and make his wife get out and pick up the quarter.
Fast food isn't the only place where customers make you drop your jaw. Senior Daniel Neff works at the famous A-Town Library, and he's got stories for days. One of the best stories is the duffel bag dude. It was a normal day at the library, everything was calm like a library should be. The employees were all in the work room area, which is near the front desk. For this reason, nobody saw what happened, this story is told from security cameras. Anyway, Neff says a dude walks in the library like a normal customer, but he is carrying a duffel bag. After a few minutes of what looked to be mindless browsing, he proceeds to load his duffel bag up with new books and walk out the front door. He then unloads his duffel bag and strolls back in the library and does it again. He was never seen again. This isn't the only time the library was a crime scene. On another normal day at the library, Neff says everything was fine and then some guy came in panting, like he just got done running. The guy told them that he was running from his girlfriend because she went crazy. Around this time, the boss of the library gets a call from the police department. The guy was not running from his girlfriend, he was running from the cops because he just stole a car. At this point one of the employees rounds up all the customers and bring them to the back room, which happens to have a large window with a view of the road. Two cops eventually roll up, and the guy dashes out the back door. From here, the people in the back are watching the scene. They say that two more cop cars pull up, surround the guy, and then tackle him and take him away.
Fast food, libraries, and now popcorn shops. Senior Audrey Ashbrook works at Ilas popcorn in the village of Granville. She says it was a really busy day, and this lady was a customer like anyone else. She bought her popcorn, and just when Ashbrook thought she was gone she starts venting to her. Ashbrook says she was telling her to not go to California because there's going to be a rapture, and that it was going to fall off. She said all of the Casinos were also done. She proceeds to tell her that she needs to go to church otherwise god will punish us.
When you first start a job, it is likely that these kind of people will make you want to quit, cry, or wonder whats wrong with humanity. But, after awhile you begin to realize the beauty in those situations. You begin to live for these scenarios, and that is when you know you're too deep in fast food.

Sports on Spring Break
By: Savannah Legg
With Spring Break just around the corner students are counting down the days and digging out their shorts and tank tops from the back of the closet, making plans to jump on planes and fly away to destinations of desire, but not for the athletes at Northridge.
Since the beginning, athletes who participated in spring sports have never been able to go on vacation due to practices, scrimmages, games, and meets over the course of the week. So what does Spring Break mean for these students?
Addie Vankirk (‘18) catcher for varsity softball says, “On Spring Break we have three scrimmages and three practices over the course of the week.”
Track they will have practices almost everyday during Spring Break. While they won’t be able to go anywhere, at least they will be able to condition into their bikini bods. As a participant of the softball team myself, not being able to go anywhere for break has always been the rule. So going to do activities with friends and relaxing is the way to go. You could even play get-togethers with your other team members who are in Ohio with you.
Watching Netflix is always a must for those who need something to do. Check out Morgan Hatten’s story “Advice for Netflix newbies” for specific must-see shows.
Although you won’t be able to go anywhere too fancy, there are still plenty of things to do in Ohio to have a good time.

Ask Aili
Q: Dear Aili,
I know Post-Assessments are coming up really soon, and I’m pretty worried about them. Should I be nervous, and what is the best way to study for them?
A: I wouldn’t be too nervous about them. They aren’t quite as bad as regular exams, and some teachers even grade them only based on if you have shown improvement or not. Teachers are also very helpful when it comes to reviewing for these assessments. They often give out comprehensive study guides and ample time before hand to finish them. I recommend using the study guide, reading over your notes, and watching educational videos on the internet to help you remember tough concepts. Doing all of these things should definitely help you do well on the post assessments.
Q: Dear Aili,
I am staying home for spring break this year. What are some fun things that I can do close to home?
A: You have two major options here: you can either stay home and relax, or you can find some fun, spontaneous things to do around Central Ohio. If you want to stay home and relax you could always throw yourself a Netflix marathon, catch up on some much-needed sleep, or read the book that you’ve been ignoring for months. If you want to go out, I recommend trying something new. You could always spend the day at Skyzone with your friends, go to the movies or zoo with your significant other, or take your dog to the park. The most important thing to remember is that the point of spring break is to have fun and relax from all of the school stress.

Vikings Recycling
By: Emily Jesenko
Schools can make an enormous impact on the environment if they recycle. There are numerous negative environmental effects on the earth when people overlook recycling. Pollution, build up of trash in landfills, and hurting earth’s habitats are only a few of the many negative impacts. So many reusable materials and products get wasted and thrown away. If the people of Northridge recycled their plastic bottles and piles of papers, we would be doing the earth a great favor.
Some students and teachers didn’t even know that we recycle here at Northridge. Our principal Ms. Anderson clarified in an interview that we do recycle. Ms. Anderson claims that “We have the big recycling containers (over where the district office used to be) for all paper products.” The average students collects hundreds of papers throughout the school year, so we should recycle these papers instead of throwing them away. Sometimes you can see “student workers pick up the paper to be recycled,” according to Anderson.
Not only do papers need recycling but plastic products, as well. People don’t think much of what happens to that plastic bottle when they throw it away. If it doesn’t get recycled it could be sitting in a landfill or end up in the oceans. The documentary “Plastic Paradise” by Angela Sun shows us the abundant mess of trash including recyclable items like one use plastic products found in the pacific ocean. It disturbs the balance of the environment and kills wildlife. Students buy water bottles and pop bottles every day from the vending machines. Recycling them would benefit our environment greatly. Our school can make a real difference!
Ms. Anderson claims that “We NEED recycling containers for bottles....” In the meantime I highly suggest that you keep your plastic bottles and recycle them at home or a local place. Recycle papers you do not need and help Northridge keep our earth healthy!

Swiss Easter Traditions
By: Sven Stalder
Switzerland is a Christian country, so Easter is celebrated there. However, we have some weird customs and traditions for Easter time.
The basics of Easter traditions in Switzerland are not too different from American traditions. We hide eggs and chocolates that the Easter bunny brought, and we get little bunnies made of chocolate. The first difference that I realized was how we dye our eggs for Easter. We don't traditionally paint on them, but we press a leaf on the egg, put part of a hose on top to hold it in place and then boil them in colored water. When we take them out, the leaves come off and leave a print behind.
The second difference that I found is a weird tradition that we only have in the city that I live in. I have no clue how they came up with the idea, but it's been a tradition for quite a long time. We put kids on one of our public places by the lake and let them hold eggs. Adults that walk by take one of their quarters and try to throw it at the boiled egg so it sticks in it. If it sticks in it, the adult can keep it. However, if it doesn't, the kid keeps it. It is quite rare that it sticks and children can make some extra money just by standing around. This tradition is called “zwänzgerle.”
The last thing that we do different is called “eiertütsch” and literally translated, it means “hit eggs.” For that, two people take a boiled Easter egg and before they eat it, one person is going to hold the egg and the other person is going to smash their egg in their partner’s egg. One of the eggs will crack. After that, they turn the eggs around and the person that held the egg first can now hit. There is usually a winner, which would be the egg that didn't crack. If you ever want to try this with someone, choose an egg that is relatively small and has more of a peak. If you pick a good egg, you can win a few challenges, but eventually, every egg will break.

DIY with Andy the fix-it guy

NORTHRIDGE- Spring is upon us, and for many of us this is the last year of high school. Graduation is just around the corner and for me that seems preposterous. Seniors, we must cling onto the time we’re still here at Northridge and make the most of it.
I have guided you all on how to prep. your equipment for the winter, and now you should be reaping the rewards from your wise preparations. The springtime provides lots of opportunity for a young student, especially in the newly inhabitable outdoors.
In the fall issue, I talked about cleaning up for your family or yourself. In this issue, we all must see that the usual spring cleaning will be in full swing soon or it is happening right now around your house or room or whatever the case may be.
Do-it yourself is something that I illustrate, but you must improvise it on your own terms. To me, spring cleaning usually involves me carrying around the same totes from last year, and burning some stuff. This year, it is very different for me and I have some great tools that I think a lot of us can use.
Some people keep tons of stuff and don’t use five percent of it. Our garage has this issue, we have a part of the garage that is filled with stuff that we never use. We don’t go in that room unless we need something from the freezer. It didn’t happen overnight and we all know that we cannot clean it up in one day.
Organization is something that a lot of people have down pat, but lots are still left wondering how to sort things out and not waste lots of time in the process. Ultimately, you want to get your stuff organized in a maximum of about 3 days, so that you can do it over spring break and enjoy your cleaned-up space at the same time!
When you start cleaning, it often seems like you’re getting nowhere. If you keep going, and you don’t take a break you keep looking at the same stuff and get frustrated pretty quickly with how messy your space is. First off, get some drinks for yourself or whoever is helping you clean up your stuff. Also, a good radio never hurt anybody. Secondly, get an idea of what you want to put where. If you have no idea what is in your space that’s being cleaned, you’ll just have to go with the flow and ditch this step. Thirdly, go through your items at a consistent rate. When you encounter something that you have no idea how to sort out, set it aside. For everything else, find places for everything to go, and when you start making groupings of things such as “Halloween” or “Christmas” put it there when you find more of it.
Lastly, don’t leave it unfinished. If you find yourself halfway done, do not leave stuff strung out. If something comes up and you run out of time organize most everything else quickly so you don’t have a bigger problem down the road. Nothing is worse than trying to clean up and just mixing things up somewhere else and not being able to find it in a week or two.
Organization can be completed at many different levels. If you want to put everything in little baggies and drawers and cabinets, it’s going to take you forever unless you are fairly organized to begin with. For me, just getting stuff in a general area and periodically sorting out the kinks is what works best.
DIY is to do it yourself, and so let’s all help out where needed, and make your world better by starting out this year and cleaning up. Life’s a mess and the best advice is to being organized

There is Obviously a Right Answer… Right Honey?
By: Alex Healey ‘17
This question overall is very interesting. When I first met Carrisa Sweetman (‘16), I honestly really did not see a future there. She seemed nice enough but not quite my type. Then, we both found ourselves in band together and even on the same instrument. (I heard playing clarinet got you chicks… not wrong). So, being around each other constantly in marching band, concert band, and then even in jazz band (I do want to point out I did want to play saxophone first, she's the one that followed me,) made us very used to each others company. We were friends sometimes, and maybe there was much more of a one sided friendship other times.
Now that I have really tiptoed around this prompt and maybe lost a few readers, this is my answer: It is very important to be friends first. That’s when you learn all the important little things about a person. It’s what makes the relationship deeper and long lasting. I can nearly guarantee you that if you are not friends with your special someone first, the relationship won’t last as long because the chances of you both putting in effort in the relationship is highly doubtful.
I would like to state to everyone, on the record, that I am fully aware that there is only one right answer. Before anyone asks… Yes, I am that much of a woose, according to most people. But, in my mind, where you all say woose I say loving boyfriend. (Yes I am aware that is what a woose would say…).

Dating Begins With Friends
By: Carrisa Kae Sweetman
I have dated someone without being friends first, and from my experience, it is totally awkward.
You send texts to each other like…
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
“What’s up?”
“Nothin much you?”
“Same”
Then, it just continues, and it is nice and boring. You don’t really get to know each other past the weird way of communicating through texts or selfies on Snapchat.
Some people get lucky though, or they choose to talk to lots of people and become friends, or go on dates before they become official. There is nothing wrong with that, and if you get labeled for that just think of it this way: At least you will be dating someone you can trust and you know you actually get along with. They won’t just be an everyday boyfriend or girlfriend. They will be your best friend.
In the past year, I have had the privilege of experiencing a relationship with someone who has been my friend since middle school and through high school. In the beginning, when we were just friends in middle school, and I was seen by my current boyfriend as being “scary.”
So, don’t be afraid of dating your best friend. If you truly are best friends or compatible, then, you will have no problem going back to friends if dating doesn’t work out. To clarify dating, I don’t mean being boyfriend and girlfriend. When you look at the person or people you are dating, in the true sense of dating, remember what you are looking at. You are not looking at the outside, the shell of who they are. You are looking at their heart, who they are on the inside.
Going out on dates, going out to eat together, or something to that effect always works very well. Spending time with them is a great way to get to know who someone is on the inside. I do not advise seeing a movie though, unless you go before dinner, that way you have more to talk about.
Just going to see a movie causes awkwardness, or makes you feel like maybe there is nothing between you. When really it was just because you didn’t actually get to interact with each other.
Good Luck! Remember not to cheapen what Love truly is. Too often we hear our friends say, “I love you,” when they don’t understand the depth or the breadth of love itself. Real love, a noun and an action, is not just a word to be thrown around. When loving someone, you are giving time and effort to them, without necessarily considering what you will even get out of it. Sometimes, the greatest things you do for the one you love goes unacknowledged. True Love is not easy to come by, but when you have truly found it you will know it.

P.P.P. Discussion (Parking Permit Pay Discussion)
By: Dayna Martin
NORTHRIDGE- Most students look forward to getting their licenses and driving to school, but they do not look forward to paying $25 for their parking pass.
Katie Applequist (‘18) says, “I think $25 is too expensive to pay for a piece of plastic to hang in your car window and to park your car at the school.” But, I think if students knew where their parking pass money was being spent, they would not have as much of a problem with the $25 fee.
According to Principal Amy Anderson the parking pass money fills the O18 High School fund. The O18 fund is used to fix the student parking lot during the springtime and the funds are also used for student activities. For example, this past November the Marching Band was preparing to head out for the OMEA State Finals, and a small portion of the O18 funds were used to buy the band members doughnuts and water.
Anderson said the funds from the student passes are used for construction work in the springtime. The money is used to cold patch the lot, restripe the parking places, fill potholes and to buy the parking pass permits every other year. Anderson states there are 144 parking spots in the student lot and restriping the lots is a whopping cost of $200, the cost of which is covered by the income of the student parking permits.
I asked Anderson if there has been any talk about repaving the student parking lot and entrance, since that is the main problem in the student parking lot. Anderson said that, “It is so costly. So, we can only do little parts at one time.” Repaving the student parking lot has been looked into before, but it is not in the budget as of this time.
Now that student drivers are informed as of what their parking permit pay is be used for, they could have an easier time of handing the office the $25 for a piece of plastic that is a privilege. I know next year it will be easier for me to hand over $25 for a piece of plastic.

Dayna Martin (‘18) enjoys raising pigs. She owns a pig named Olivia who has had 2 sets of baby piglets. Recently she just had more babies. One of the piglets, named Hormel, is a special pig to Martin. Being the runt, he spent a lot of time with Martin when he was a newborn. Martin loves all pigs, big or small, but says it’s the most fun when they’re piglets. She enjoys sitting with them in the barn and watching them run around and chew her boots. Dayna loves her pigs because, “They are an animal that I have grown up around. I think piglets are extremely cute and I enjoy spending my free time with them down in the barn. If I did not have pigs or piglets in my life I really do not know what I would do.”

Trinity Orahood (‘18) has a special love for her chickens. Out of the 40 that she currently has, a special one named Pretty Girl is her favorite. Pretty Girl enjoys spending time in the house, and makes sure not to use the bathroom inside. She likes to feed her chickens chips, strawberries, and other scraps. The chickens will run to her as soon as they see a bag of chips. Orahood says the chickens also love to eat bugs and spiders, which comes in handy. Orahood loves her chickens because, “They are always full of energy and are very pretty in a variety of patterns and colors. They also provide us with fresh eggs everyday.”
People and their pets: farm edition
By: Katelyn Darby
NORTHRIDGE- Here at Northridge, we aren’t exclusive to cats and dogs as pets. Why don’t we recognize the farm animals too?
Cora (‘18) and Olivia Dorman (‘17) have spent most of their lives raising cattle. They enjoy spending time with their steers by taking them for walks in the yard. They also are shown in the fair. The Dormans have had many steer, but a few special ones stand out, including Bob the Biter, a steer that would walk up behind you and bite, and Mr. Kitty, a steer afraid of cats that would moo loudly anytime a cat walked by. Cora loves her cattle because, “They aren't the typical cat or dog. Cattle are much bigger and I enjoy showing them.”

How to Prompose
By: Megan Dalton
Prom is approaching soon, and the closer it gets to the May 13th date, the smaller your window to snatch a hot date is. The month of March is a prime time to “prompose.” If you are old, or just not with the latest lingo, this is the act of asking someone to be your date for this monumental high school event. Being the suave person I am, I know exactly how to conjure up the perfect promposal.
Some helpful hints before hand:
If the girl or boy only agrees to be your arm candy if you get a certain amount of “retweets” don't go with them. If they make you get retweets or likes on social media before they agree, they don't want to go with you, and they are probably selfish. But if the person you are asking is Rihanna, and she makes you get a set amount of retweets, you do that!
Okay, now that we established who you are allowed to take to prom, it's time to figure out how to do so.
Step one- Figure out what hottie you are going to ask. Find the person who you would want to boogie with all night, you have to enjoy this person’s presence at least a little.
Step two- Figure out the way you are going to prompose. This can be a huge elaborate showcase or a simple text saying, “Yo, bby wunt 2 b mi prom d8? I will pic u up @ 5:45!” Or it could be something complex and insane.
Here are some ideas for the food lovers in the group:
Here are some ideas for the jokesters in the group:
There are many other ideas on how to prompose, and these are just a few. But just don't be nervous, and have fun. Prom is a great time, and it is even better when you get to spend it with someone you enjoy.

Here are some ideas for the food lovers in the group:
- spell out “PROM?” on a pizza with some pepperoni or other toppings.
- get a box of donuts and on the lid write, “I donut think I could go to prom without you”
- make a sign from the Disney movie Up, and for the balloons on the house make colored cupcakes and write “PROM?” on them.
- Anything that spells out prom or something funny with food is bound to be a great route to take when asking either a male or female.
Here are some ideas for the jokesters in the group:
- hold up a sign that reads, “Prom with me? YES- blink or NO- do a backflip.”
- get a horse and a blanket that says, “Prom? Check YES or NEIGH.”
- make a collage of the person’s double chin snapchats and says, “hopefully you look this good at prom as my date.”
There are many other ideas on how to prompose, and these are just a few. But just don't be nervous, and have fun. Prom is a great time, and it is even better when you get to spend it with someone you enjoy.

Advice for Netflix newbies
By: Morgan Hatten
If you’re new to Netflix and don’t know what to watch, you came to the right place. Lucky for you, I know some of the best TV shows on Netflix. These are mostly dramas and comedy shows because those are my favorite, so if you enjoy those genres too then this list is a good way to start your Netflix journey.
Grey’s Anatomy: This is a drama TV series about surgeons who work to save the lives of their patients along with dealing with problems of others and their own. It involves drama, intensity, love, death, pain, heartbreak, happiness, tragedy, disasters, surprises, relationships, and tears. Lots and lots of tears. I know, there’s a lot of different emotions throughout this show but that’s what makes it great. There’s a 100% chance it will crush your soul and cause you to be emotionally unstable but you’ll fall in love with it immediately.
One Tree Hill: This is another drama TV show that’s about two half brothers who compete against each other on and off the basketball court. Through nine seasons you watch five people bond together through heartbreak, friendship, betrayal, and basketball over the course of two years of high school and the rest of their adult lives.
Friends: You’ve probably seen this show on TV before and your parents probably watched it when it was being aired. Although it ended in 2004, the bond between these six friends never did. Enjoy 10 season of these inseparable friends find their way in life through love and laughter.
Fuller House: If any of you have seen the original ‘Full House’ you know the Tanner family pretty well. In this sequel on Netflix only, they fast forward 29 years and show the family all grown up. DJ has three boys she has to take care of by herself until her little sister Stephanie moves in with her, along with her weird best friend Kimmy Gibbler and her daughter.
Gossip Girl: The upper east siders of New York City send in their high school gossip anonymously to an unknown source who posts it on the web. These preppy overprivileged teenagers experience heartbreak, humiliation, power, and friendship with unexpected people throughout the series. Plotting, planning, scheming, and buying their way through life is the only thing these teens know how to do but with the help of each other they learn what’s really important in life.
New Girl: Jessica Day is a middle school teacher trying to find a place in the world after her relationship of six years ends. She moves in with three men in their 30’s who have to learn how to deal with her quirky habits and eventually become the best of friends.
Criminal Minds: A team of FBI agents work to figure out the identities of serial killers before they strike again. Pressure rises as they gather information about suspects and create a profile within a specific time period to save someone’s life.
Pretty Little Liars: After a popular and feared teenager, Alison DiLaurentis, disappears her four best friends start receiving text messages from an unknown person who calls him/herself “A”. When bad things happen, “A” always finds a way to make it look like their fault, and they must figure out who “A” is before they end up in prison for crimes they did not commit, all while trying to find their missing friend.
American Horror Story: Four seasons of different stories using all the same characters. Season 1- “Murder House” is about a family that moves into a haunted house, but they don’t know that since they can see all of the ghosts inside the house. Season 2- “Asylum” is about a man that gets put in an insane asylum when he claims a UFO came and took his wife away. A reporter is forced to be locked in there after she figures out how they are treating the patients there and they must find a way to get out and close down the asylum. Season 3- “Coven” is about young witches who are learning how to control their powers so they don’t kill people accidentally. Season 4- -”Freak Show” is about the last remaining Freak Show Circus located in Florida. There’s a guy trying to buy some of the freaks, trying to sell them for money, and a clown killing people and taking kids.
The Office: If any of you have heard the name Steve Carell before, you can automatically guess that this show is a comedy. Michael Scott runs a paper company, “Dunder-Mifflin” while trying to manage his office crew.
Jessica Jones: This is a Marvel series about a young girl who got super-strength after an accident with her family. She becomes a private investigator and must use her power to find a girl that was taken by a mind-controller who had controlled Jessica a few years before. She has to find the girl and her abuser and prove that the crimes of some people are not their fault- they are being mind-controlled.

Tips and Tricks to building up your bank account
By: Kaycee Campbell
Looking for some ways to make a little extra money and even manage it better? Well have no fear, I am here to give you some tips and tricks to making your bank account fuller and actually keeping the money in it!
One thing I´ve always struggled with, is saving my money up for future needs. So who could help you out better with this than someone who had overcome the same problem!
Finding a job can be hard, am I right? All of the ¨we´ll give you a call” or ¨we have so many other applicants but we'll let you know,” and then you never hear from them again. It can be a real struggle, but here are some tips on how to ¨nail it¨ at getting a job. First off, always make sure that when you’re turning in your application, that you actually turn it in yourself and not have someone else do it for you. This shows that you are committed and willing to drive the 20 or so minutes just to turn it in. Second, don’t flood your application with too many activities. They like to see that you’re going to be able to work whenever is needed. And finally, follow up with the employer after you’ve turned in your application. This shows that you really want the job and are dedicated to getting hired. Whether it be a stop in visit or even a phone call, follow ups are always suggested.
Maybe you don’t have time to work, but need some money because your debit card is constantly being denied. Well there are tons of odd ball jobs that you could be doing to earn some extra cash! You could ask friends or family members if they need any help around their house doing chores or little tasks. You’d be surprised by how many would actually say yes! A lot of your parents’ friends probably have younger kids, offering to babysit for them so they can have a night out is probably appreciated and something they’ve been looking for! Maybe try making a deal with your parents to run some errands or do some things on their too list that they always say they’ll “get around to.” Another way is to save that change you never want. Saving up your loose change in a jar and then rolling can make you some money. Once you roll it take it to the bank and deposit it, I’ve done this before and ended up getting almost $150 for it. So, no matter what it is, there are so many ways that you can make some extra cash, just get creative with your ideas. They may not pay too much, but they’ll add up and hey every little bit helps, right?
So your problem may not be earning money, but instead managing it better! This is something many, including myself, struggle with greatly. The first step is downloading your bank account app on your phone, so that you can keep track of your spending and how often you do it. This can be a real eye opener for some because when you see all of your purchases and how much you’ve spent right in front of you it can be surprising to you just how much all of those “little things” add up. The next step is creating a budget and dividing it into categories. Doing this can help you keep a balanced way budget instead of getting that “Oh no, what did I spend all of my money on” rection the next time your account is running low or empty. A smart way to divide it up would be, gas, necessities, food (if needed), and savings. Since you’re trying to save money, spending isn’t really a necessary category but it differs with every person! With having a divided budget, you will be able to know how much money you spend on things and can even control how much money will be kept in your account. Another way to manage your money better is to determine spending needs cut. Maybe your problem is you eat out a lot, well start packing your lunch or eating before you leave somewhere. You’d be surprised how quickly all of the “Oh it’s just one person I'm buying for, I don’t eat a lot anyway” really adds up. Maybe your problem is you have a shopping problem. Well, saving your money and only going every now and then is going to make easy to buy nicer things and it will also teach you to wait for something you want. I promise that you don’t NEED that new blue dress in hollister’s window NOW. So basically managing your account is all about self reliance.
Getting a job, earning some extra cash or even managing and saving your money can change your lifestyle a little bit but in the end you’ll thank yourself. So use some of these tips and turn your bank account around!

J.K. Rowling makes magic once more
By: Caylee Lindsay
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, written by J.K. Rowling in collaboration with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, is the official eighth story in the series. The tale continues where the Deathly Hallows epilogue left off. According to a “Pottermore” article, the story will explore how Harry wrestles with his past and how his youngest son Albus Severus deals with the heavy burden of the family legacy. For any “potterheads” out there, you’ll recognize the excitement that this inventive plot brings for readers and viewers alike.
This new addition to the Harry Potter series is actually a two-part play. It will receive its world premiere in London this summer, on July 30th. It is unknown when and where the play will make an appearance in the United States, but one thing is certain. Print and digital editions of the play in the form of a script book will be published simultaneously after the premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. According to “Pottermore,” it will be comprised of the version of the play script at the time of the play’s preview performance. Fans of Harry Potter will be able to enjoy the next addition in J.K. Rowling’s “Wizarding World” everywhere.
John Tiffany, award winning director who collaborated with Rowling and Thorne for the creation of the play, is certain that fans will be pleased with the extension of the renowned series. On the play’s official website, Tiffany says, “I’m conscious of bringing the fans what they love, doing this story justice and exploring the psychology of a grown up Harry Potter with the same epic sweep as the books and the films, but in a different way.”
Fans are excited to see Cursed Child come to life with the vibrancy each actor will bring to the stage. Playing the part of Harry is Jamie Parker, the first actor to officially play Harry Potter on stage. Noma Dumezweni takes the stage as Hermione. Dumezweni is an award-winning actress and has had many roles in England’s most beloved plays. Lastly, theatre, film, and TV actor Paul Thornley will play Ron. Rowling has assured anxious fans that these cast members will deliver. She remarks on the play’s website, “I’m so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can’t wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer.”
The Harry Potter series has distributed over 400 million copies worldwide. With the latest addition to the series launching this summer, Rowling’s “Wizarding World” will surely skyrocket once again.

Student’s Spring Break plans
By: Jamie Swickard
With Spring Break just around the corner, many are finalizing their plans or creating new ones for the long-anticipated week. Many plans range from staying home and playing their spring sports, to going out of the state to visit places with their family.
Those playing sports are planning to stay in state this year due to practices and scrimmages almost every day. Addie VanKirk (‘18) says, “I have three scrimmages this break, but I want to try to go camping with my family and some friends for the weekend.” Addie hopes to still try to do something fun, even though she will be staying in Ohio.
Other athletes do not even acknowledge that Spring Break is coming up due to their lack of major plans. Tyler Rosshirt (‘17) asked, “When even is Spring Break?” when he was asked what his plans were. This dedication to spring sports leads many athletes to not even think of any vacations, even if they just last a day or two.
Even non- athletes have yet to decide what their plans are. Matt Krehel (‘16) says, “I haven’t even thought that far ahead to Spring Break!” Krehel claims he will continue his workouts for the military, work and see friends. Krehel says, “I hope it is a pretty laid back Spring Break this year!”
Students who do not play a spring sport plan to go out of state, but after break is over. Cole Wilson (‘17) says, “I don’t have any major plans during actual spring break, but my family and I plan to go to Florida the week after.” He says the following week was the easiest for their family to go, but he does not mind because it makes the break longer for him. Wilson states during break, he plans to hang out with all of his friends as much as he can.
Bethanie Deer (‘17) says she plans to travel to Virginia with her mom, grandma, and brother this Spring Break to visit her uncle who lives there. Deer says, “It’ll be nice to see family and leave the state for a little bit.” Deer and her family will visit Washington DC after to site see for a few days as well. While this may not be the beach, Deer says she is very excited to go on this unique trip!
A student who plans to stay in the state is Logan Garee (‘17) who says the one thing he will do this Spring Break is find a random school record, and do everything he can to break it. Garee says, “It doesn’t even have to be an athletic record, I just want to break a record so I can say I have.” Even though Garee will be staying in the state, it sounds like he will be enjoying his time off.
While others plan to break records, Peyton Yost (‘19) says, “My grandma, brother, and I plan to go to Florida to stay in her house for a week. We don’t have anything planned yet, but I’m excited.” Yost says he most definitely plans to go to the ocean as much as he possibly can.
Others plan to go stay in the state but have a mini vacation with some of their friends for a few days. Megan Phillips (‘16) says, “A group of me and my girlfriends plan to stay in a cabin in Hocking Hills for a few days. We want to hike and explore one day and have lots of girl time!” Phillips says she is very excited to be able to relax with some of her closest friends before college begins.
Whether you’re staying in Ohio, or venturing out, make sure to have fun, stay safe, and to make the most of your break!
