Ready Player One: Movie Review
By: Jason Turner
Ready Player One was a book written by Ernest Cline, made into a movie which opened in theaters on March 29th of this year.
I love it because where the novel falls short, the movie takes over. The story is basically of the future where people live more in a virtual world than real world. The maker of the virtual world, James Halliday, passes and leaves his riches and ownership of the virtual world to the person who can complete his game: finding the final egg. There are five main characters who become friends and compete together to win.
The characters in the movie were very likable. They made great choices on actors who played each character. It brought the characters to life from the book. There were a lot of references to the 80s movies, music and life because James Halliday loved the 80s. One of the references, which was my favorite scene, was of the Shining movie.
Overall, I would rate the movie 8 out of 10. It was full of action and a lot of fun 80s reminders. I would recommend it. It is still in theaters, and there has not been a release date for the DVD/Blu-Ray.
