Taking Back Sunday Review
By Trevor White
The first time I witnessed TBS live was at the 2012 Vans Warped Tour and I was absolutely blown away. What made that so significant was that they played at Warped Tour. Nobody is good at Warped Tour. How could you be when you play in a parking lot, have a 10 minute sound check, and do it every day for two and a half months in 90-110 degree weather?
Needless to say, when I saw they would be playing the Newport in Columbus on a headlining tour I was stoked and made sure to grab a ticket when they went on sale. What made this even better was that one of my favorite bands, Transit, would be joining them on the tour.
When I first arrived I could already tell this would be a show to remember just from all the buzz and excitement. So as soon as doors opened my friends and I quickly filed in and found ourselves front row for Transit and Polar Bear Club. Each played an impressive 30-45 minute set and was just as good as I had expected.
When Taking Back Sunday was ready to take the stage the energy was unmatched with any other band I’ve seen before (except maybe Legion at The Basement). They came out of the gate with You Know How I Do and it was all uphill from there. From the insane crowd energy and singer Adam Lazzara's incredible stage presence to the great set list, it was a great show. They played an impressive 25 song set plus a three song encore. It was even better than I could have expected and seeing it with so many friends made it that much better. I look very forward to when they come to town again and will most definitely be seeing them.

Dating advice!
A very important part of dating is going on dates. What makes a perfect date? Follow these tips and you’re sure to woo the socks right off of your significant other.
Now, personally when I go out I like to keep it cheap so a good dinner choice is Waffle House, Steak and Shake, Bob Evans, and Taco Bell. Although not high-class they provide somewhat good food for like $10 which is okay in my book. Now, if you’re going for extra points on this date you may want to aim high in the price range. Some suggestions for this is Carrabbas, Japanese Steakhouse, Olive Garden, O’Charley’s and their “Free Pie Wednesday” or The Brio. So what’s a good meal without a movie afterwards? The answer is nothing, there is no point.
Everyone loves watching movies especially with a cute lady on your arm. The best kinds of movies are the scary ones because they’ll have her huddled into your arm in an instant. One very important tip to remember is to make sure your feet don’t stink. Everyone loves to take their dirty sneakers off during the movies and if your feet smell like fermenting cheese your lady will pack her bags in an instant. Trust me, it happened to me one time. Now that you know these essential movie tips you need to know the closing stages to a date.
The whole point of going on the date is to have fun so why call it an early night and not continue with fun? Now, if you’re driving a sweet whip like mine the girls will never want to get out so use this to your advantage. Get some good tunes going (Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Adele, blink-182 etc.) and she will surely fall for you. Also, always, always, ALWAYS, remember to have your car clean. Nobody will want to get comfy in the backseat if there’s a family of possums living back there feasting on your four week old Taco Bell.

Under the Desk:
Welcome back!
By: McKenzie Messer
Ah, the sweet smell of snot-filled tissues and empty cartons of ice cream. All fandoms are coming back from the dead. Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural, Marvel, The Hobbit, Disney Princesses, The Hunger Games, heck, even Harry Potter is back! They may be a little more mentally unstable, considering their long hiatus, but nevertheless, they're back!
The "Big Three" are all coming back around the same time, so there will be thousands of constantly weeping girls. Doctor Who will come back November 23 for the 50th Anniversary with 10, 11, Rose, Martin, Mickey and Clara (Eeek!!). Sherlock will be back sometime later this year. Supernatural will be back October 8th and approximately nine more people will die and come back to life.
Marvel has two new things coming this fall. A new TV series called Marvel: Agents of SHIELD, which I'm severely extatic for, came out last week and will come at Tuesdays at 8:00 pm on ABC. Thor 2: The Dark World will come out November 8th and baby Loki is going to have Tarzan hair and I will probably be weeping in theaters.
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug comes out in theaters December 13th. AND both babies Martin Freeman and Benadryl Cabbagepatch are going to be on-screen together (even though one will be a dragon). And don't even get me started on Fili and Kili. What angels.
Catching Fire also comes out this fall on November 22nd. I honestly disliked The Hunger Games very much, but hey, I'll probably still go see Catching Fire.
If you aren't spitting fireworks and hula-hooping on a volcano about the new Disney Princess movie, kindly get out of my face. Frozen, a Swedish princess movie, will be coming to theaters November 27th.
And finally, the franchise that overrules them all, Harry Potter is back! J. K. Rowling wrote two books based off of Harry Potter textbooks: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages. Well, good old JK is creating Fantastic Beasts into a movie AND writing the screenplay! It's set 70 years before the Harry and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and I heard it's based off of a Huffelpuff, so everything about this sounds good! I'm not even sure when it will start filming, but I'm excited about it.
Whatever type or genre of entertainment you're into, there will surely be something to suit yourself and cry over.

Fashion Advice:
Fashion for the autumn hipster and pop-punk junkie
McKenzie- Fashion isn’t just clothes- it’s a sense of self-awareness.
Trevor- I completely second this. I can’t be feelin’ fresh as heck when I’m not dressed to impress.
McKenzie- If I don’t have some sick denim to match my lilac flower crown I don’t feel Coachella ready. Fall is a great time of the year where you can really look like you don’t give a flying darn about fashion while getting ready for two hours in the morning.
Trevor- I feel ya, man. How can I be ready to crowd surf to greatness if I’m not sporting my khaki shorts, authentic Vans, and Wonder Years tee? The answer is I can’t.
McKenzie- A good mind set for this autumn fashion is to be completely unique and unpredictable. Some fun fashion this fall would be a trash outfit. Grab a trash bag, preferably used, with some McDonald’s bags, and a couple banana peels. Put the trash bag over your body and cut a head hole, tie the banana peels around your waist like a belt, and finally twist-tie the McDonald’s bags around your feet. Style with some fun, alternative garbage from the family trash!
Trevor- Well while you follow these tips and have your cholesterol go through the roof, let me give you some fall fashion tips. If you’re looking for a cost efficient way to make the ladies swoon, a crew-neck (preferably a band one), skinny jeans or jean shorts if the weather permits, and some always trustworthy Vans sneakers are a valid option. On the chillier fall days a very “in” North Face windbreaker will keep the chills away. But always remember; never EVER wear an overcoat to a show. You will get hot and have nowhere to put it which an absolute tragedy. Also, staying warm is way too mainstream.
McKenzie- For this autumn, make sure you’re following my and Trevor’s fashion rules to look super cool and alternative.
Trevor- Like my favorite unsigned indie singer always says, “If you’re not alternative you’re mainstream and trendy and lame” So fellow trendsetters, follow these rules and you’ll achieve alternative stardom (become a sell-out).

Everyday I’m Hosslin’:
Inside Student Leadership
Northridge: You may think Student Council controls the different the student sponsored school functions, but that’s not really the case.
Many student council members may be in student leadership but the class is what actually controls all the student functions from dodge ball to the football/basketball student sections.
This year’s group of seniors is very capable and eager to do new things and improve on the annual events. We have already sold “Dodge for the cure” t-shirts and have run a raffle to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The raffle was made successful due to the many generous donations given by local businesses.
The class is also going to add new functions and events to the list this year including the already popular volleyball, dodge ball, and basketball tournaments.
The student section is also being upgraded this year. It is ran by seniors, Ryan Trimble and Matthew Grindle. The popular N-Unit shirts won’t be sold until basketball season due to other shirt sales in the school.
The class is excited about planning for homecoming and prom. The theme for homecoming is different cities of the world. Each class is assigned a different city and are going to decorate their hallways to represent the city.
The class is excited for the year and will be bringing new changes to the old routine.
Remember to keep up on my column to receive updates on student related functions!!!!
